Special OlympicsThe Aroostook County 2019 Special Olympics games had been canceled due to inclement weather. So, the Madawaska School Department held their own Olympics on May 16. Knowing how important these events are to the participants, Whitney Bouchard and Tom Gerard, teachers at MMHS, created their own Special Olympics. The event consisted of six events: Long and Broad Jump, 50 and 100-yard Dashes, Softball Throw, and Frisbee Toss.

To kick-off events, Kamilah Cyr escorted participants into the gymnasium while members of the Pride of Madawaska band played the National Anthem. Students, faculty and family members cheered on Dez Ackley, Cody Boyd, Kamilah Cyr, Keedan Dalgo, Jacob Demoranville, and Alex Silva.

During the closing ceremony, U.S. Border Patrol Officers Desjardins, Guerrette, Theriault, and Thibodeau awarded each athlete with medals and Customs and Border Patrol gifts.
