Here is a lovely example of S-curves produced by acceleration as a dot car rolls down a slope.  The speed is less at the start reulting in flatter graph section and as the car rolls along it speeds up, making the line become more and more steep.  Then after the car hits the horizontal floor, the line flattens out again because the car is slowing down.  The different lines are made by cars traveling down boards with different starting elevation.

We placed 30 M&M candies in a plastic cup.  We shook them and then dumped them out. We counted how many landed with the M&M label showing.  We graphed the frequency of M&M candies landing with the "M&M" label showing, if we removed the candies with no label showing on each throw (representing a half-life).  We did this activity to help us understand one way that geologists can find the approximate age of rocks.
