As many of you know, Madawaska Elementary began locking all outside doors, with the exception of the main entrance, back in 2013. The main entrance remained unlocked to allow parents and visitors to access the building. At that time, plans were made to eventually secure the font door with security to allow the front doors to be locked as well.
I am pleased to announce that beginning tomorrow, Friday, September 25, 2015, Madawaska Elementary will be a totally locked down school as a new Video Door Phone system has been installed. Now visitors will have to “buzz-in” when trying to access the building between 8:15am and 2:15pm daily.
As seen in the images below, visitors will see the Video Phone monitor on the wall of the main entrance at MES. Visitors will have to push the doorbell button (shown above), where one of the main office secretaries will grant access to the door closest to the monitor for approximately 5 seconds.
Again, the main entrance doors will not be locked until 8:15 in the morning to allow students to access the building. It will be locked until 2:15. At that time we will unlock to allow parents who are coming to pick up their children access to the main lobby.
