Dear Madawaska School Department Family Members,

As we begin a new school year with COVID-19 protocols in place, the Madawaska School Committee wants you to know that they value the input from stakeholders, especially our own students, staff, and parents/guardians. Last week, a mask recommendation survey went out to all the various stakeholders in the community. The survey results can be viewed here: https://bit.ly/38f8tJ2.  From the survey results, you will see a vast majority of stakeholders favoring optional masking for staff and students at school. The Madawaska School Committee was also unanimous in their decision to support the COVID-19 protocol plan, which had optional masking in place when Aroostook County was below high level of community transmission. Since then however, Aroostook has moved to a high level of community transmission, as monitored and reported by the US CDC.
The Madawaska School Committee is committed to revisiting the COVID-19 protocol plan and adhering to the decisions they make so that our students can remain in school, where they belong. It is the goal of the school committee and Madawaska SchoolAdministrative team to return to a “normal” school year as soon as we can. We thank you for your continued support as we navigate another school year full of changes.
