FOSS Science Series

Students use a hands-on inquiry approach to learn science concepts.  Each unit has a corresponding website to better educate students and parents about what they are learning in class.  Click on the pictures to link to each unit.

Conserving Salmon


The students will be raising salmon in a mini-hatchery in the classroom for a 4 month period (February-June) to help conserve the Atlantic salmon population in Maine.  Click on the fish and it will take you to the site where you will learn more about this amazing creature.  Click here to see last year's salmon growth.

Book Adventure

Students are required to read one chapter book per month at their reading level.  Once the book is read, the student will take an online test through"Book Adventure".  This educational site has a selection of over 7,800 books students may chose from.  Each test they take earns them points toward a variety of prizes. All students have been enrolled and are ready to take tests. If you would like to check if your books at home are Book Adventure books, click on the book for a complete list.
